The city Bus service for Bhubaneswar and Puri is being
operationalised under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban and Rural
Development (JNNURM) programme. with financial assistance of Government
of India and Government of Orissa.
With consultancy service of Urban Mass Transit Copany Ltd. (UMTCL) government of India sponsored company the DPR was prepared which got the approval of the Ministry and sanction for 125 buses was made -100 buses for Bhubaneswar and 25 buses for Puri. For this purpose, An MoU was signed between Dream Team Sahara (DTS), a private city bus operator and Bhubaneswar-Puri Transport Services Corporation Limited (BPTSL) on Tuesday.
As per the MoU, DTS would take responsibility of operalisation of city bus service in both the cities. It was known that 50 standard buses and 50 mini buses will ply in six routes- Khurda-Master Canteen, Nandan Kanan- Air Port, KIIT- Uttara Chowk, Dumdumma- VSS Nagar, Nuagaon- Phulnakara and Khandagiri- Sai Temple in Bhubaneswar city.Similarly, 5 standard buses and 20 mini buses will ply in three routes in Puri city. They are Beach Road to Konark, Jagannath Temple to Mater Canteen and Jagannath Temple to Konark.
