NEW DELHI : The Delhi Government has finalised boundaries of over 1,018 unauthorised colonies in a major step towards regularising the settlements, which are home to around 40 lakh people.
“The boundaries of 1,018 colonies have been finalised. With this, we have made a significant headway in regularising these unauthorised colonies,” said Urban Development Minister Ashok Kumar Walia, adding he has been reviewing the status of regularisation process on daily basis. “This has resulted in fast finalisation of boundaries enabling the city Government to take further action to meet aspirations of people settled in unauthorised colonies in different part of the city,” he said. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had expressed annoyance over the slow pace of the regularisation process of unauthorised colonies in the Cabinet meeting earlier this week. Read more
