MALAPPURAM: Dengue and rat fever cases in the district have doubled compared to last year, said district health administration officials at the review meeting organized to chalk out ways to prevent the outbreak of monsoon-related diseases.
District medical officer M Sakeena said the number of jaundice cases had gone up in Omanoor, Vazhakkad, Vazhayoor, Morayur, Kuttippuram and Vettam panchayats. Three cases of death due to jaundice were also reported this month in which over 500 cases were reported. Rat fever cases have been reported from the hilly regions near Nilambur, Chungathara and Vandur, the DMO said. Read more
