AHMEDABAD: The state urban development department has planned an elaborate awareness drive to get more people to file their impact fee applications. There are more than 15 lakh properties Gujarat cities and towns that are illegal or have illegal construction in their premises The department has also sought a whitepaper from major municipal corporations on the questions that are being asked by applicants. The AMC will announce helplines for individual zones shortly.
For instance on CG road, in Ahmedabad, which is one of the posh boulevards of the city has all of the 52 shopping complexes devoid of any parking space. Just one application for regularization has reached the western zonal office of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). "There are several relaxations that the state government had announced recently to ease off the bottlenecks in the application procedure including allowing individuals living in illegal societies to individually apply for impact fee," says a senior AMC official.
