Chandigarh : The Panchkula lake project initiated by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), which had been shelved previously, is being revived at a tentative cost of Rs 18 crore following an advisory received from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Roorkee experts. “Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had directed HUDA to review the project by eliciting opinion from experts,” informed HUDA Superintending Engineer N K Verma.
Earlier, the project had hit a roadblock on technical grounds as the land proposed for the lake was found to be porous and unfit to retain water. After the Chief Minister’s directive, HUDA approached IIT-Roorkee experts and a team, headed by Professor Nayan Sharma and Assistant Professor Deepak Khara, was formed. Read more
