Mumbai : A former senior member of the municipal corporation’s Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee (MHCC) has cleared the air on the reconstruction of Vasant Sagar building on A Road near Churchgate, saying such redevelopment is permissible in a grade III heritage building. The entire Marine Drive precinct has grade III heritage classification.
Referring to section 67 of the Development Control Rules, which governs the upkeep of and changes to structures classified as heritage, Shirish Sukhatme, a former member of the MHCC, said all structures in the Marine Drive locality are in the Grade III heritage category, which means their redevelopment is permitted.
