Lucknow : The UP government is actively considering a CBI probe into a multi-crore scam in the JNNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission). UP urban development minister, Azam Khan, told reporters here that he had written to chief minister Akhilesh Yadav asking for the CBI inquiry. He said the bungling in the JNNURM is much bigger than the Rs 5,700crore NRHM (National Rural Health Mission) scam uncovered earlier in UP.
“The Mayawati regime openly looted JNNURM funds over the past five years,” Khan said, reiterating the charges he leveled in the Vidhan Sabha during the discussion on his department’s budget. Read more
