BHUBANESWAR : With elections to the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) only six months away, the State Government on Friday in principle decided to raise the representation of women in Local Self Governments by 17 per cent, taking the total reservation for the fair sex to 50 per cent.
Odisha is the third State in the country after two southern States — Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh — to provide 50 per cent reservation for women both in the Panchyati Raj institutions and the ULBs. Read more
