Smoking mountains of garbage are the new normal for India's urban sprawls, sticking out like dirty reminders of a consumption culture gone awry. But from amidst the stink, hope of a cleaner future is sprouting in the southern states.
The revival has to do with a paperboard major, a logistics company, some 300-odd corporates, resident associations, city corporations and tens of thousands of environment-conscious families and school children.
