HYDERABAD: MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Wednesday demanded a sub-plan for Muslims which would help close the gap between backward and other sections of society.
"The Sachar Committee report underscored the backwardness of Muslims in education and employment and said that their condition is as bad as that of SCs and STs. It recommended that Muslim students be given scholarships and other facilities on a par with SC/STs. We have demanded a separate sub-plan for Muslims akin to the Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan (SCSP)," Owaisi told TOI. Read more
