RANCHI: In an age when exposure to technology is always thought in terms of boon, teens in Ranchi are getting to watch pornography thanks to the use of high-end mobile phones and laptops. Even when the Jharkhand police are constantly conducting raids to check the sale of such clippings and movies, children in the city are finding ways to get hold of them.
Publishing or transmitting any kind of obscene or lascivious material in electronic form is a crime under Information Technology Act, 2000. Vineet Kumar, chief technical officer of cyber cell of Jharkhand police, said, "Transmitting obscene material through the electronic form is a crime under section 67 of Information Technology Act, 2000 and a person violating this law can be imprisoned for a term of five years or fined Rs 10 lakh or both."
